ADFC Berlin e.V. is the Berlin regional branch of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club, Germany’s largest cycling advocacy organisation. Based in Berlin, it works as a registered non-profit association to promote safer and more comfortable cycling in the capital. Its stated focus is on the everyday use of bicycles as a transport mode, with an emphasis on road safety, infrastructure, and political advocacy.
The organisation says it has more than 21,000 members in Berlin. Its work combines campaigning and practical services: it lobbies on transport policy, comments on the implementation of the Berlin Mobility Act, and campaigns for Vision Zero, the goal of zero road deaths and serious injuries. It also runs or supports public actions that are well known in the city, including the annual ADFC Sternfahrt, one of the world’s largest cycling demonstrations, which brings riders from across Berlin and Brandenburg into the city centre.
Beyond political work, ADFC Berlin provides services for cyclists. These include guided rides, day and half-day tours, after-work rides, cycling trips, bicycle coding, a self-help workshop, and a Velo library. The organisation also maintains 13 district and neighbourhood groups across Berlin, giving it a local presence in multiple boroughs.
Its recent public campaigning has focused on road safety, including protests against plans to reduce protected cycling infrastructure and actions such as the Ride of Silence, a memorial ride for cyclists killed in traffic. The group presents itself as both a civic lobby and a local cycling service provider, rooted in Berlin but connected to broader national ADFC structures.
