Build Green Group is an environmental non-governmental organisation based in Tirana, Albania. It grew out of an environmental movement that began in 2015 and was formally registered as a non-profit by court decision on 7 November 2017.39 Its work centres on research and project delivery related to the environment and sustainable development, with a focus on climate adaptation, environmental digitalisation, environmental law and the circular economy.9
The organisation works in Albania while also taking part in regional and international partnerships. Its stated aim is to support Albania’s green transition and sustainable development in a regional context.9 Activities include research and development studies, and short-, medium- and long-term projects carried out with public and private partners at local, national, regional and international levels.3
A prominent example of its regional work is Fast Forward, a youth climate-education project coordinated by Build Green Group with partners in the Western Balkans and Spain. The project used youth exchanges, training and practical learning materials to build knowledge and capacity around climate change, environmental justice and sustainability.457 The organisation has also contributed to vocational education work in Albania, including developing sustainability guidance for schools and training teachers on circular-economy concepts.10
